The EIA Notification 2006 requires prior Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Environment (MoEF) / State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) for all new projects or activities, expansion and modernization of existing projects, any change in product – mix listed in the Schedule. The procedure requires EIA study by NABET accredited EIA Consultant Organization. The Expert Appraisal Committee appraises the EIA study and the outcomes of public consultation (if applicable) and upon recommendations from the committee the MoEF/SEIAA grants Environmental Clearance.
